If a Text Message is a SCAM!
We’re all receiving them… Text messages from unknown numbers.
They are:
❌ Irritating
❌ Obtrusive
❌ and sometimes DANGEROUS!
Often, these text messages include a link that you can click on.
Whatever you do…
DO NOT CLICK links in Text Messages!
In fact, here is a handy trick you can use to determine whether or not the text you received, is actually legitimate.
1️⃣ Go to https://www.whois.com
2️⃣ Enter the domain name portion of the link you see in the Text Message in the top WHOIS search box
3️⃣ Pay attention to the creation date of the domain. Newly created domains are often used by cybercriminals for these smishing types of phishing attacks
